While mangos were an exotic rarity in the past, they are now among the absolute favourites among the fruits. With their bright colours and juicy flesh, mangos enrich the culinary culture. But also their health value speaks for itself: mangos are rich in beta-carotene and other important vitamins. In their original country of origin, India, the fruits are even said to have numerous healing properties.
We offer the quality promise of premium mangos grown in tropical climates around the world. A large proportion of the harvest during the year is of Peruvian origin. Here we grow these tasty and aromatic fruits on our own plantations, e.g. in the region of Olmos. After reaching a certain sugar content, mangos are harvested when they are hard and ripe so that they can survive transport by ship to their destination countries without any loss of quality.
After arrival of our mangos in Rotterdam, they are brought to maturity in our ripening chambers, heat-controlled in 3-5 days. The mango develops a wonderful aroma even before it is fully ripe. Many appreciate the somewhat firmer bite. However, if you like them fully ripe and a little softer, you should check whether the mango gives way a little when you press it lightly with your finger - then it is just right.
During refrigerated transport, mangos are kept at 10°C. Ripe mangos can be stored at around 12°C for a few days, but should be eaten as soon as possible.
